What does Bon Jovi, U2, and Freakswitch have in common? We’ve all played stadiums. THATS RIGHT! Freakswitch played a stadium show on Sunday. OK, so it wasn’t the Meadowlands. It was Dutchess Stadium. BUT ITS STILL A STADIUM!!!
Lynne from the March of Dimes came out and saw us play a couple of weeks back. After hearing us, she asked if we would play the March of Dimes Bikers for Babies benefit. There was no way that any of us in the band were going to tell her no. We’ve done benefits for JDRF and St Judes in the past. (side note: we will be playing for St Jude’s again in December at the Chance.) So helping with the March of Dimes was a no brainer.
We had gotten there early and actually didn’t think the weather was going to allow us to play. Once everything had settled and after a couple of hours, the sun came out, the vendors were set up, the bikes came in. It was like poetry in motion. At least that is what it looked like from the outside looking in. I’m sure the March of Dimes crew was losing their hair.
There was a car show in the parking lot, looked like a bike show too with all the bikes coming back from their ride. Harley vendors, jewlery, tattoo’s and food.
Bikers and car enthusiasts are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They love talking about their bike and/or car and these people will do anything to help out whenever they can. So it wasn’t surprising to me what-so-ever to see how many people actually showed up for this event.
I don’t know how many people were their or how much money was raised, but to see all that attended, I know it was a good day for the March of Dimes.
I’m just glad we were able to be a part of this and I’m thankful Lynne and her boss came out to see us that night. Cause if they didn’t we wouldn’t have played. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH ladies for allowing Freakswitch to be a part of all of this. If you need help next year, just let us know and we’ll be glad to help.
Until next time.
