Damn that was fun….

Faceless was nothing less than awesome Friday night.  But since this is my blog, I’m going to talk about our portion of the show first.  Well lets see, it was Friday the 13th, cold and raining.  Sounds like the perfect makings to destroy the night.  We arrived at the Tux and Faceless was setting up.  Mike Ramos, the lead guitarist hooked up his equipment and got this nasty ‘hummmmm” coming out of his amp.  Usually signs that the venue has a bad ground in the electrical system.  JUST GREAT! Thats the side where I’m setting up.  And I was right.  I had that same hum.  Not much you do except suck it up and deal with it.

The closer it got to showtime, the more the people filed in.  It was a decent crowd.  But this place is pretty damn big, so it didn’t look as packed as I would’ve thought.  Well either way, we were going on whether is 2 or 200 people.

The problem with being a minor league rock star is that you have to deal with what they give you.  Faceless was the headliner and they deserve to be in that spot.  So we got what was left.  They didn’t have any other monitors so Scratch had nothing.  Solution: turn up the side fill speakers so he can hear.

2-3-4 show starts, I hit my first note and the side fills were so loud that my ears are still ringing. Nevertheless, the show went on and my brain farts were held to a minimum.  It was cool because a song or two made their debut.  And they got some really good responses.

As we finish the night and begin to tear out gear down, Faceless comes up to us and tells “we’ve got to do this again”.  SWEET! Count us in.

As we depart, Faceless is up.  HOLY CRAP THESE GUYS ARE GOOD! if you closed your eyes, you would’ve sworn you were at Godsmack show.  They were so tight and so spot on with the songs, you can’t help but bang your head and sing along. They did stray from one part of their show.  The lead singer Ron had lost a dear friend that day.  And instead of canceling the show, their family urged him to go on and he honored their wishes.  I can’t say that I’ve ever had to do that.  But I do know that I don’t ever want to do it.

With every song they do you just can’t help wonder what is going to come next.  Well don’t worry, I’m here to tell you what happened.  The black drape falls and TADA, a second drum set appears. Sully (aka Ron) hops on the second kit and they go on to perform a dualing drummer segment.  Pretty damn cool.

After that they go on to do another song or two and once again thanked the crowd for coming and departed by leaving the stage talking to the people that came to see the.
