This past Saturday we played our last show with Michael Polito on the bass. It was at “The Room” in Brookfield CT. The show was not the way I would’ve have wanted to send Mike off with, but I can’t control certain things. The Room is a big place focussing on the younger crowd. The set up is great and the owners treat all the bands like stars. I’m sure in the near future this place will be off the hook.
But the fact of the matter is that Mike has decided to leave the band and be true to his musical soul and put together a new project more to his taste.
Mike and I started Freakswitch over two years ago. We’ve collaborated on many projects but Freakswitch stuck. This isn’t an easy pill to swallow. Him and I have been though a lot musically together. This was “our” baby. For those of you who are musicians and are in or have been in bands, when someone leaves, it is usually not a pretty sight. There is finger pointing and harsh words. But this isn’t the case. Mike decided to leave, we sat and discussed to see if there were any solutions that can be done. But in the end we all knew that his wants and desires were better with other musicans. You see, we all put friendship first and music second. That is why there is no “ill will” on anybodys part here.
From what I understand he has been putting himself out there seeing if he could find musicians to gel with him. He tells me its going very well too. I as well as the rest of the band wish him nothing but the best and hope and look forward to possibly doing shows together in the future.
I’m sorry I don’t have a gold watch or something to send him off in style with, but the key thing to all of this is that we all remain friends and support each other with everything.
So, GOOD LUCK MICHAEL!!!!!!!!! Holla if you need anything
