The show with Pat Travers went really well. Even though I had a couple of glitches hit at the last minute, things went very well.
A couple of days before, we were asked if the Pat Travers band could use some of our equipment (drums, bass rig, etc). We were glad to help. PLUS that made it so that we had the entire stage to do our own thing.
So we arrived at the chance around 5:30 and began to set everything up. As we are setting up, the PTB (Pat Travers Band) comes in and just hangs out and starts talking with us like we’ve known each other for years. As they leave to get some dinner, we finish and perform our sound check to a packed house of about 10 people. (Its about 6:30, doors weren’t even open yet). Everything is set, no flaws, bugs, hitches………… NOTHING! (remember that, it plays into the story later)
So me and the guys depart the Chance and make our way out to get something to eat. While we were dining, the time got away from us so we didn’t see the first band that played. What little I heard as we were walking in sounded great.

Next on the stage was “Stuck on Stupid”. A band out of Albany and this band was INCREDIBLE! They play a mix of covers and originals. And all their covers are played with a hard twist. They did a rendition of “Hotel California” that I still can’t get out of my head. I hope to see as well as play with these guys again soon.
*DING* Round 3 – SHOWTIME!!!!!!! Stuck on Stupid departs and we take the stage. We do a quick “Check 1-2” to make sure all mics and instruments are good to go. We get the “OK” from the sound tech and no sooner he says that, my guitar dies. I have NO POWER for my guitar. My amp shits the bed. ISN’T THAT JUST GREAT! So after what seemed like forever (technically about 5 mnutes), we just bypassed the amp and went straight into the board.
“Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for FREAKSWITCH!”
With a four count on the hi-hats, we were off and jammin. It took me about 2 1/2 songs to shake off the tech difficulties. Things are going well at this point. The crowd is into it, Brian in between songs is making everyone laugh with his antics, Mike P is oozing with attitude on the bass, Mike S is head banging behind his kit and I’m finally hitting my groove.

Here we go, one song left. We’re ending the night with “Wrong Direction”. Brian screams “FEE-FIE-FOE-FUM” and we’re ending the night on a high note. UNTIL…………….. “PING” I snap a string during the lead. Thankfully it was towards the end of the last song for us. All in all, it was a great show and we as a band had a blast performing. Thankfully my amp wasn’t one of the rigs the PTB needed that night.
Once we were done, shortly after the PTB comes on and just plays non stop for quite some time. The crowd lost their mind when he did “Snortin Whiskey” and screamed their ass’s off for “Boom Boom out go the lights”.
ahhhh, good times. And I’m sure there’s more to come. Don’t forget to check out our pics from this show in the gallery.
I would like to say thank you to all who came out and supported us. We really appreciate it. And thank you to the people who took our pics and video taped us. (Todd Gay, Dawna Cservak, Kenny Chipkin & company, and my sister Carolyn)
Until next time, I’m out………
