Well just like any show, I was pumped to get back on stage again. It just seems like that is where the band belongs. We had a very good rehearsal session on Tuesday where we wrote about 4 more songs that are worthy of keeping. Then UFO on Thursday. Full rockstar mode was in effect.
That is until we arrived at the chance to load in our gear. We weren’t able to sell many tickets for this show. So in a sense, we dropped the ball from our end. As it turns out, none of the bands did very well is sales. So it was set up to be an empty venue. And for the first two bands, it was pretty thin in the audience.
We were the chosen act to go on right before UFO. So we sat there and just watched as all the bands put on a show like they were in Madison Square Garden. But received little response due to the lack in attendance.
Oh the thoughts of “Why did we agree to this” ran through my brain constantly throughout the night. There was nobody (I use the term loosely) there and our brand of music wasn’t even close to what the others, as well as UFO played.
We found out earlier in the evening that Chris Beaumont, who does local concert reviews was there ……… TO SEE US! How sweet is that. I always welcome an outsiders input on the band. BUT TONIGHT? This place is dead and we are not playing a show that would best showcase us. Wonderful, just wonderful.
The third opening act went on and it seemed like there were a few more people filing in but not enough to make the nipples hard. But somewhere between Starstruck saying “thank you goodnight” to and us getting introduced, the place (at least the bottom) got packed. Needless to say, the nipples were now pinging. Not worthy of cutting glass, but enough to feel good about being out of the house on a school night.
So as we begin to do our thing, we see people getting into it.
Its a good thing that we know are songs pretty well. Because there was very little vocals in the monitors.

By the end of our set, we saw people getting into our music and actually looking like they enjoyed it. Which is a lot better than people throwing beer bottles at you.
GOOD TIMES!!!! After the show, Chris stopped me and told me that he enjoyed the show. I thanked him and asked him if he was going to destroy us in his review. He said that he had some points he wanted to touch on and that he has to be honest with his review. Thats cool with me. I look at it this way. He can destroy us in his column, and I’ll treat it like he’s from Rolling Stone magazine. Just ask Aerosmith and Rolling Stones what I mean. Or he can give us a good review and we kicked ass. So its a win win situation. HEY! Its my story, it helps me sleep at night.
Regardless, I felt we had a good show and didn’t disappoint. To read his review, go to our “News” tab and click on the link. You should also go to his site and read his other reviews.
Until next time…..
