This weekends music in words.



Friday Night @ Lockwoods Tavern in Newburgh, NY

Let me just say that the band Downfire are just really cool human beings.  No ego’s, no attitudes, just genuinely nice guys.  And they ain’t too shabby of musicians either.

Downfire supplied the backline for the show. (definintion of back line: drums, amps, mics, PA system, lights, etc).  Which was awsome.  All we had to do was to plug in our instruments and play.  They told us we have an hour long slot.  Which normally is a little slice of heaven, BUT! For those that have seen us, you know we only have about 35-40 minutes of material.  So we went old school.  In between songs they got the comedic stylings of Brian as well as a short and non impressive guitar solo from yours truly.

The cool thing was before we even finished our set, the owner comes up and tells us that we can not leave until we book some more dates there. So guess what? Its ok, I’ll give you time to think a little…………..

ok – I’ll tell you.  Freakswitch will be back at Lockwoods on October 23rd.  We are hoping Downfire will be available to play that night with us as well.  We have to wait and see.

Once we finished, Downfire took the stage running.  There was hair flying all over the place.  Behind all that hair whipping around were some really good songs.  They played for about 35 minutes then took a break. 

Why?
I’m glad you asked, I’m going to tell you.

It was time for the WET T-SHIRT CONTEST!  Let me start by saying I despise these kind of contests.  Its meaningless and insulting to my intelligence to think that is what attracts men.  So needless to say.  I WAS FRONT ROW FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Three ladies were in the contest and each deserved the prize, but one stood out to me.  You might think its the size, shape, real or fake.  YOU’RE WRONG! One lovely lady was wearing Freakswitch dog tags.  So she is who we voted for.  Did she win?  I have no idea.  It was too loud in there for me to hear.

Once the girl show was over and the floor was mopped, Downfire got on stage again and decided to go old school MTV unplugged on everyone before turning it up to 11 again.  Good stuff……. 

This was the second time we’ve jammed with Downfire and look forward to doing this again with them. 

As I said before, we will be there 10.23.09  and did I mention there will be another wet t-shirt contest that night.  Oh its good to be a freak.

Saturday Bike Fest @ Blackthorn camp grounds in East Durham, NY

At least a few thousand people were at this event.  The weather was beautiful, the bikes were sparkling, the boobs were falling out.  THIS IS GONNA BE A GOOD TIME! 

One problem. We never played.  Where the stage was, was in the same area where the bike games were being played.  More people wanted to see a chick on the back of a bike try to bite a weenie, than hear us play.  Or any other band for that matter.  I know I was diggin’ it.

Its all good though.  We didin’t mind just enjoying the sites.  I had my family with me so we were walking around checking everything out while my boy was hitting on every pair of big breasts he saw. 

From what I understand, the people putting on the event asked us to play next year as well as a few other times during next camping season.  ITS ALL GOOD IN THE LAND OF FREAKS!

Both places have asked us to learn some cover songs this way would could play longer.  So get ready.  Looks like we’re going to do a few.  Feel free to email or post your suggestions for covers we should do………
