A night with Lizzy.

Another show has come and gone.  And once again, we had a great time.  Then again.  We ALWAYS have a great time.  If we didn’t, we wouldn’t do it.  Makes sense right?

The members of Freakswitch arrived at the Chance at 4:30 Saturday afternoon to load in.  Now you’re probably asking yourself, “Why so early?”  Well thats a great question and I’m going to tell you the answer.  Lizzy Borden and his band used our gear for their show because their stage show was on its way to the next bigger venue.  OK, big deal right? YOU’RE DAMN STRAIGHT IT IS!  For those how have seen a show or have played a show at the Chance, you know that the opening acts always have to set up in front of the riser not leaving a lot of room to jump around on the stage.  Well since Lizzy (I can call him Lizzy because we’re tight like that.  Actually that’s not true but I really don’t give a rats ass either way),  was using our equipment, that means we got to use the entire stage.   And let me just say this, DAMN THAT WAS FUN!

For the two of you that actually read my blogs here, you know that something always goes wrong with equipment at this venue.  Well I’m happy to tell you that THE TRADITION STILL CONTINUES!!!!!!  Drums……. check.  Bass ……… check.  Guitar ……….. dramatic pause ……… CHECK!  This time around, the Chance had technical problems with thier vocal mics.  So here were are in the first song looking like Milli Vanilli with our mouths open singing and nobody can hear a thing.  Well after analyzing the situation and the sound tech running on the stage 4 times in 10 minutes, the problem was never resolved.  Probably a bad cable but not much you can do with a shot amount of time alloted for us.  ITS ALL GOOD THO!  We had a great time.   The crowd seemed to have enjoyed the little surprise we gave them with out version of “Sweet Leaf”.

When Lizzy Broden came on, he was awesome.  The man still got a set of pipes on him.  Not to mention even for a small crowd (by Madison Square Garden stature), he put on not only an excellent audio show, but the visual show didn’t suck either.  And even though his microphone cut out about four times as well, he perservered and overcame when he could’ve easily just started cursing out the sound man right there on the spot.  And even though his songs were spot on, I just found it myself smiling when they payed omage with Ronnie James Dio’s “Long live rock n roll”.  Well played Mister Borden, well played.

Until next time, I’m out.
