Bring on the Emmy’s….

So last night we had our very first television appearance.  I must say, it was pretty bad ass.  We had way too much fun there.

1The space wasn’t the biggest. But that didn’t matter.  Some people who look at the world as “glass is half empty” may have looked at is as being dealt lemons….. Well let’s fill that glass up because we were the vodka.  We worked very well together.

We got there at 3pm so we could bring in our equipment, meet the crew, receive our directions, set up, sound check, pre-interview, change then chill out.

Now we as a band have never, nor will we ever come across as “holier then thou”.  We are just seizing the moment (remember that saying) and enjoying the journey.  The crew at Poughkeepsie Live was out of this world.  You couldn’t ask for a nicer group of people.  They treated us like professionals, fed us and were very personable.

Now don’t think this gig didn’t go off without a hitch.  Big bad Brian figured “what the hell” and gets into an automobile accident on the way to the station.  Another example of how cool this staff is, Michael Dell the host of the show actually got in his car to pick Brian up because Brian’s truck was out of service.  Not everyone would do that allowing the band to continue setting up.

The two main directions we had were “DON’T LOOK INTO THE CAMERA” and “HAVE FUN”.  Except for the occasional glance, I think we did both very well.

7 pm – SHOWTIME! 2-3-4 (once around begins).

FS14

After two songs, we go to commercial, we come back and yours truly is being interviewed.  Uh oh, please don’t stutter or sound like an idiot.  Well I didn’t stutter and the jury is still out on the other.  We break for commercial again, play two more songs, Michael Dell says thank you and good night.  And we finish with an extended version of Wrong Direction.

*fade to black*

ahhhhhhhh GOOD TIMES GOOD TIMES!

Ok – we’ve had our dress rehearsal, now will someone please give us a reality show already?

FYI! 98% of the crew at Poughkeepsie Live is volunteers.  That is just too cool.  It’s nice to see people with a passion donate their time.  They could’ve half ass’d it, but no.  Very professional and we loved every second we were there.  So if anyone from Channel 6 reads this, on behalf of Freakswitch, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Until next time – I’m out
