We spent this past Sunday in the studio laying down some more tracks for our cd ‘seize the moment’.
Personally, I could live in the studio. Writing songs at rehearsal is one thing. But laying them down and getting an idea on what the finished product is going to sound like is like giving birth to a baby. OK, thats a little dramatic and I may have sprinkled a little fairy dust on this story. But I want you to know that actually hearing something that you have written come to life, is like becoming a proud parent.
Granted, not every new born is a good looking kid. Just like I’m sure there will be some songs we write that you will like less than others. But thats how life goes sometimes.
Freakswitch as a band came out like a house of fire in a short time. We put together a song list that would get us out as quickly as possible without embarassing us in the process. When we started gigging, the writing slowed down somewhat. But I must say, Mike Polito is an animal. He is coming up with new material that is just outstanding. The core of his ideas are making it real easy for the rest of us to put our flavor on it and get it into the mix.

Polito has this song he wrote (which we have played out the past couple of shows) that just sticks in your head and it won’t leave. I wish I could tell you what the name of it is, but I don’t know. I just tell the guys “the new one” and they know exactly what song it is that I want to play.
I know we said that our cd would be out by a certain time. And we are still shooting for that. But unlike our demo, which was recorded in one day and quickly released because we wanted something to put out so everyone could hear, the rest of the songs for the cd will be recorded with more attention to detail. We may go back and add a few things to the original three as well.
We are back in the studio again in a few weeks. We’re hoping that it will be finished after that session. But we may have to go back one more time to dot the dot the T’s and cross the I’s.
until next time…
